Description

Siege mortars were designed for battering the enemy's fortifications, defending fixed field positions or in some cases the land side of permanent forts. Their elevation was normally fixed at 45 degrees and the range was determined by the size of the charge. The projectile they fired was a bomb and not a shell and had it's own adjustable fuse.
